Review Time

Recently I've seen some movies and read a few books so I thought I'd share them here with you!

Iron Man
After ultrarich inventor and weapons maker Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) escapes from kidnappers using makeshift power armor, he turns his invention to good by using it to fight crime. But when he must face the evil Iron Monger, his skills are stretched to the limit. Based on the Marvel comic.

I thought this was a pretty good film but it was definately not a kid movie. I'm not a huge Robert Downey Jr fan but I thought he did really well in this movie. It's certianly worth watching!

Toy Story 2
Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks) and the rest of the toys in Andy's playroom are back! When Andy goes off to cowboy camp, an obsessive toy collector kidnaps Woody, and it's up to Buzz and the gang to save their pal. With a story that's great for kids and adults, amazing technical work from Disney and Pixar Animation.

We got this from Netflix because we thought that Zilla would enjoy it and it's been forever since we've seen it. It was certainly funny and a great kids movie but I didn't like it near as much as I did the first Toy Story. I did however enjoy the interaction with the dog in this one and Mrs. Potatoe Head was great too. It was good and your kids will probably enjoy it.

SkinTight by Susan Andersen
In a rare moment, professional poker player Jax Gallagher committed a rookie's mistake. He threw an IOU for a valuable baseball that wasn't his to wager into the pot -- and lost. Now the man who won the collectible is demanding his prize . . . or else. The problem is, the ball is in the possession of his estranged father's widow -- a flamboyant Las Vegas showgirl. Jax intends to get it back, by any means available.

Only, Treena McCall is anything but the ruthless gold digger Jax expects. She's built a life for herself filled with good friends and hard work. And if she sometimes wonders what it would be like to share her dreams with someone, she can live with the suspense. She's got enough on her plate tyring to hang on to her job as a dancer without being wined, dined, and seduced by sexy Jax Gallagher.

In Vegas there's more than one way to lose your shirt, and both Jax and Treena know better than to bet on love. Yet sometimes rolling the dice in a high-stakes game can lead to a prize beyond compare -- if you have the courage to gamble your heart
This was a very cute book and an easy read. I liked all the characters and all the vegas cracks were pretty funny. A good summer read thats for sure!

Gods in Alabama by Joshilyn Jackson
When Arlene Fleet headed off to college in Chicago, she made three promises to God: She would never again lie, never fornicate outside marriage, and never, ever go back to her tiny hometown of Possett, Alabama. All God had to do in exchange was to make sure the body of high school quarterback Jim Beverly was never found. Ten years later, Arlene has kept her promises, but an old schoolmate has recently turned up asking questions. And now Arlene's African American beau has given her a tough ultimatum: introduce him to her family, or he's gone. As she prepares to confront guilt, discrimination, and a decade of deception, Arlene is about to discover just how far she will go to find redemption and love.

I really thought this book was interesting and made you really think. It technically falls into the chick lit catagory but I think that it's very skillfully written and I liked all of the characters. It was certainly a good read.
