Movie Review Monday

We’ve seen a few movies lately that I’d like to review for you!

Marley & Me
Based on the best-selling memoir, this feature adaptation centers on Jennifer and John Grogan (Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson), who, as newlyweds about to start a family, learn many of life's important lessons from Marley, their lovable yet trouble-seeking canine. This heartwarming story examines the highs and lows of marriage, maturity and confronting ones' own mortality, as seen through the lens of family life with a dog.
This movie was super cute, funny and sad all at the same time. I read the book a couple years ago so I knew the whole story (or course they left a lot of good details out) but the movie still managed to bring on some tears! It also managed to get DZ and I to love up on Daisy and she was mighty grateful for that LOL. It was good so I’d totally recommend it!
Thirteen
Thirteen-year-old Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood) is a good girl. She's smart, gets along with her mother (Holly Hunter) and is never any trouble. But then she befriends Evie (played by Nikki Reed, who co-wrote the movie), a gorgeous and popular classmate who teaches Tracy to let loose and introduces her to the beguiling world of sex, alcohol, drugs and self-mutilation -- much to the horror of Tracy's friends, relatives and, most of all, her mother

This movie wasn’t too bad but it’s certainly NOT a family movie that’s for sure. It stars Nikki Reed who is in Twilight and it barely looks like the same person - I like her better as a brunette lol. I was a little taken aback at how explicit some of the scenes were but I guess that was the point of the movie. Certainly makes you think of how things like acceptance and divorce can effect teens and how seemingly small things can get out of control quickly. Overall it was an interesting movie but I would have liked to see the ending have more of an end if you know what I mean. I wouldn’t not recommend it.

Bambi
This is a great classic Disney movie. This was the first time Zilla has seen it and it’s been a long while since the last time I watched it. Zilla really enjoyed it and asked to watch “baby” several times. I think he got a big kick out of Thumper and Flower! I recommend it - Duh!

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
One year after the incredible adventure of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Peter, Edmund, Lucy and Susan Pevensie return to Narnia to aid a young prince whose life has been threatened by the evil King Miraz. Now, with the help of a colorful cast of new characters, including Trufflehunter the badger and Nikabrik the dwarf, the Pevensie clan embarks on an incredible adventure to ensure that Narnia is returned to its rightful heir.

This was weird but then again I thought the first one was a little odd to so I guess no surprises there. It certainly was interesting and I thought the actors/actresses did a wonderful job. I had to have things explained to me a little cause I guess I didn’t pay enough attention to the first one so I was lost for a bit. Anyone that knows me wouldn’t be surprised but that though LOL. You should defiantly see the first one before attempting to watch this. I would totally recommend it.

Seven Pounds
Distraught over his wife's death -- and convinced that his own actions had something to do with it -- a depressed (Will Smith) begins plotting his suicide, vowing to improve the lives of seven strangers in the process. But a chance meeting with a woman who has a life-threatening heart defect (Rosario Dawson) threatens to derail his plans when, suddenly, their budding relationship feels a lot like love.

This movie was VERY good. I haven’t been let down with a Will Smith movie before and this surely followed in that path. It was a heart warming story and I totally cried in several parts. It really draws you in and makes you think. I think everyone should watch this movie!

great reviews, I really want to check out 13 for curiosity sake, and I'm staying away from Marley & Me till after the baby is born.

Anna ~ I LOVE netflix cause you can watch a BUNCH of movies so we always try to take advantage. You will probably like 13 - it wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't the best movie either. I think that the fact that it could so easily happen to just any kid made it just a little too real for me to love kwim? Yep Marley & Me is a tear jerker - stay FAR away from it!
